I've already completed the form and added the following as my two cents worth on what actions I would like to see implemented:\

Learn from and implement measures that are working in other countries. Spend a lot less time and money studying causes which only puts off taking any action at all. Poverty is a cause of health problems, criminality (just trying to survive) and antisocial behaviour (on the parts of both the have and have-nots). Being disabled should not be seen as a failing and be shunned for it. Most of us have reasons beyond our control for being poor, poor health, domestic violence, loss of a job, etc. If you spend money on ridding the country of poverty it will also be a remedy for reducing health and law enforcement costs now associated with poverty, and women and children will not be forced to accept violence in order to have shelter or food as many do now.

It as been a while since I’ve written on the state of the underclasses in Vancouver. Sadly, since I am a part of it, I find myself having to deal with far too much of my time and energies used up just surviving. Frankly it was less exhausting working for a living. At least while I was working I did also have some dignity. Dignity comes as a package deal with a paycheck. Every day he news puts out one more tidbit of what the homeless deal with day to day. I suppose since we are in the infotainment era, it most be palatable or it will not make the news hour or the newspaper. After all most people only want to know the homeless when one of them has succeeded to no longer be homeless. The poor in general are considered a blight. The last figure I heard as 14,000. Of course that never reflects the many who, though housed are still homeless. Some live on the couch of a friend or in a car. Others are forced to make alliances which put themselves into jeopardy just to keep a roof over their heads. There is a point where doing a sexual favour or accepting mistreatment is worth it to spend your nigh indoors, accepting one predator over many. [More]

Since there is not much of an employment market for old alcoholic (ex or current) with bad teeth, bad hygiene (just where would you bathe?) and poor heath with no skills? From here you cannot stat with creating more jobs, first you heal the person, then exploit them for tax revenue.
