Public Letter/Treatise On Debates and Candidate Access
"As you have the power, sir, to do some service to letters, I implore you not to clip the wings of our writers so closely, nor turn into barndoor fowls those who, allowed a start, might become eagles; reasonable liberty permits the mind to soar--slavery makes it creep." -- Voltaire [A Letter To A First Commissioner]
To whom it may concern,
I wish to plead and complain about those, of whom, are on the ballot are denied debate opportunities, granted city council candidates are wounded without a Ward system in this matter, Mayoral candidates were and are not; MLA and MP candidates were and are not. The lower the depths of the political sewer one wishes or needs to run the harder it is made on someone, especially outside of the "politically normalized world," to run for office; from 2 signatures and 100 bucks to 25 and a hundred bucks to over 140 and a grand. After the elitist demands (minus the City of Vancouver's signature standards) debates restrictions are applied on "non-serious" candidates.
